A Retrospective on Vancouver’s Community Arts by Garrett Andrew Chong and Associates (Ideographic Studio)

After designing the Air, Land and Sea Plaza Murals at Expo 86; I left my career as an agency graphic designer to pursue my love of dance, theatre, jazz, film… The Arts ! As a young interdiscipline designer working with dozens of arts organizations, street art posters were and still are a historical chapter of the West Coast design scene and community arts legacy some 35+ years later.

Along with our fine art works, we will be exhibiting two decades of graphic design in the arts. All original posters are for sale as limited edition offset printed posters. Works include: Anna Wyman Dance Theatre, Kinesis Dance, Firehall Arts Centre, Coastal Jazz and Blues Society, The Vancouver East Cultural Centre, Chinese Cultural Centre, National Film Board of Canada, BC Film Commission, Vancouver Opera, du Maurier Jazz Festival, Alcan Lectures on Architecture, Folk Festival, and many more…

Open Studio Tours  will continue as many Covid-19 restrictions have lifted in Vancouver, NorthVan and NewWest. We invite you to bring a friend and a mask (optional) then come by and peruse the visual legacy of Vancouver’s Arts Scene during 1980’s and 1990’s.
