The Cut – TFL108
(Part 1 of the Installation: Eroded Origins…)

The Cut – TFL108 is a captivating and immersive art project, featuring 108 meticulously chosen tree stumps from the expansive Kruger Lake Clear Cut in Wells, British Columbia. These carefully paired images, forming 54 distinct pieces, constitute the foundational element of the installation project, Eroded Origins: Liminal Illusions Amidst Climate Transformation.

Each pairing within The Cut – TFL108 is aimed at rekindling environmental cognizance, unraveling the intricacies of ecosystem interconnectedness. Through the choreography of light’s auras and shadows, the project metamorphoses into a contemplative signpost. It beckons patrons to engage in the profound repercussions of climate change, actively participating in essential conversations about the future of landscapes, habitats, and their inhabitants.

The project ventures into the realm of liminal illusions, symbolic and meditative gateways to environments. These artworks illuminate emergent environmental portals, acting as omens of the impending climate crisis, offering windows into a world enriched with vibrant greens, golden rod yellows, and rich earthly browns.

However, clear cuts narrate a starkly contrasting tale. These destructive processes lay bare the scars on Gaia, impacting indigenous fauna, disrupting ecosystems, and harming our natural world. The Kruger Lake Clear Cut, enacted half a century ago, serves as a haunting signpost, a stark reminder of the pressing need for reforestation and 21st-century forest stewardship.

The project’s core intent is to elicit contemplation, spark discourse, and nurture a profound emotional connection to the natural world.
