Time: 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Exhibition is a Free Event

I am honoured to have my recent work “Still[s]… In Sacred Places” accepted by the Britannia Art Gallery in East Vancouver as part of a two artist show with Clare Yow. The gallery exhibition is curated by Haruko Okano.

#SacredStills explores, captures and presents many ancient civilizations around the world including Angkor Temples in Cambodia, Shaolin Temple in China, Machu Picchu in Peru and Canyons of America. Some juxtapositioned with select indigenous people and icons including flowers, trunks and incense. My work explores these moments of awakening with the power of meditative prayers and are a reminder for the viewer to remain present.

With the recent donation success of $320.00 to the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre (DEWC) during the Eastside Culture Crawl 2018, we will be continuing our “Art of Donation” program with proceeds from FirstSaturdays.ca open studios for 2019.

The Britannia Art Gallery showcases the work of local artists and is located in the Adult Lounge of the Britannia Library. Gallery opening receptions with the artist in attendance, are free and open to all to attend. Event catering will be provided by Michael Speier of Open Sesame.

This exciting event features work from 70 artists who are participants in the 2018 Culture Crawl. Juried by Paul de Guzman, Eri Ishii, and Connie Sabo.

Works in this broad-reaching exhibition include painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, video and other media.

201% Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre: Eastside10km

Thank You All… We collectively raised 235% over our Goal for the DEWC – Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre; close to $1,200.00.

Garrett also hit his goal of a 45 minute 10km by finishing with a chip time of 44:21. His PR – Personal Record, placed him in the top 10 in his age group at 9/45 and 142/1248 overall.

“It was fun racing through the downtown eastside where our studio has been located for over two decades. However; what was even more exciting was to race-for-a-cause and thank all the supports of this important service (DEWC).” says Garrett Chong, Principal and Brand Marketing Director of ISI Branding
