Meditating into Art… The Art of Viewing — An Installation

Click here for a 15 Sec Meditation. Many believe mindfulness, as a spiritual path, is the last evolution of mankind.

Similar to the wine tasting practise… As a youth, most of us were unaware of the subtle gestures within the fine art of wine appreciation. The process of anticipating, swirling, inhaling, smelling, then finally sipping the essence and engulfing our taste buds. As our tech-driven society thrusts forward at incomprehensible speeds, the moment of #SlowTracking has emerged as a counterbalance. Thus to pair the method of slow-tracking with art appreciation is a natural evolution. And in turn the ongoing practice and appreciation of artwork, art history and art creation. Similar glimpses of “Freedom from Thought” occur when witnessing the awe-inspiring moments of a birth or the impermanence of a death.

What:
– Disassociate from your life’s demands and associate yourself with the artist’s concept
– Average artwork is experienced for a mere 5 seconds
– We wish is to 3X time and space with each art piece

Why:
– To settle and empty the mind from its 50,000 – 70,000 thoughts per day
– To rinse the mental pallet with cleansed inhalation and exhalation of a yogic breathe
– To open the heart, suspense the mind and feel the expression of the artist

How:
Here’s how (please read all steps prior to positioning):
1. Tadasana (Mountain Pose) 3 – 4 feet from artwork… Eyes closed
2. Place both feet on floor markers with palms facing inward
3. Slowly inhale deeply thru the nose to the count of 4 then slowly exhale fully through the mouth to a count of 4
4. Repeat deep breathing 3 to 5 times
5. Slowly open your eyes and peruse the artwork for 3 – 5 Breaths Take the entire artwork into your heart and awaken your awareness to the tranquil stillness…

Move to the next artwork and carry within yourself this “Glimpse of Awareness”.
Make of Yourself a Light – The Buddha’s last words etc.
